Chairperson All Parties Hurriyat Conference (g) Syed Ali Geelani Friday continued to remain under house detention thus again barred to offer congregational Friday prayers.

“The process of this illegal house detention started in 2010 and is continuing in 2016 and the government is silent as to how long will this extraordinary type of imprisonment continue,” a Hurriyat Conference (g) statement said Friday evening.

While strongly condemning the “imprisonment” of 86 years old “pro-freedom leader”, Hurriyat spokesperson said that the main and big reason of the Geelani’s deteriorating health is his continuous “illegal confinement” to his house. “This way government wants to kill him slowly.”

The spokesperson said, “the Indian government exactly follows the foot prints of Israeli government and they want to kill Geelani just like Israel killed the Palestine leader Yasir Arafat without taking a blame. That is why the government hasn’t produced any written order with regarding to the house imprisonment of Geelani Sahab since last 5 years and the government officials sometimes do not even hesitate in telling the white lie that Geelani Sahab is a ‘Free Man’ and he is not under the house imprisonment.”

The Hurriyat (g) spokesperson said the doctors have also expressed their opinion that the restriction over the movements of Geelani is taking heavy toll on his health. “The continuous confinement in the four walls of his house is making him weak day by day and the Immune System of his body is also getting badly affected.”

The spokesperson added that despite not being well for last two weeks, Geelani continues to remain under the detention and instead of removal of police force from his residence; the authorities have increased the deployment of the forces. “No government or the police official has explained that why police is not being removed and why is it being further increased.”

Hurriyat Conference appealed local and international human rights organization to take serious notice of the continuous imprisonment of the ailing Kashmiri leader Syed Ali Geelani and “put pressure on Indian government to stop playing with his life”.

Meanwhile, people today held peaceful protest demonstration after the Friday congregational prayers at Pantha Chowk Srinagar against the slapping of “black law” PSA on Tehreek-e-Hurriyat leader Mehraj-ud-din Rubaani who used to lead Friday prayers at Pantha Chowk Jamia Masjid.
