MAHJOOR: The Herald Of Didactic Poetry

Peerzada Ghulam Ahmad ( 3 September 1885 − 9 April 1952), better known by the pen name Mahjoor was a renowned poet of the J&K Kashmir Valley, along with contemporaries. He is especially noted for introducing a new style into Kashmiri poetry and for expanding Kashmiri poetry into previously unexplored thematic realms. In addition to his poems in Kashmiri, Mahjoor is also noted for his poetic compositions in Persian and Urdu. The revolutionary poet Mehjoor also known as Shair-e-Kashmir (the poet of Kashmir) was born at Mitrigam, Pulwama, which is located approximately 37 km from the city of Srinagar. Mahjoor followed in the academic footsteps of his father, who was a scholar of Persian language. He received the primary education from the Maktab of Aashiq Trali (a renowned poet) in Tral. Mehbooba Mufti all set to succeed as J&K's chief minister

TKS Web Desk: The stage could be set for PDP leader Mehbooba Mufti to be the next chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir with the party and its ally BJP reaching a consensus over the matter following the sudden death of her father Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. Sayeed passed away at New Delhi's All India Institute of Medical Scinces (AIIMS) on Thursday morning. Though no decision has been taken as of now, his daughter Mehbooba is seen as the "logical choice" as his successor as chief minister, said senior BJP sources. 8.2 magnitude earthquake may hit North India

Delhi: India could be hit by massive earthquakes, with a magnitude of 8.2 or greater on the Richter scale, a report in the Times of India newspaper said Wednesday. According to the ToI, MHA's National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM), in an assessment following the Nepal quake, has warned of enhanced risk around the "ring of fire garlanding the entire north India especially the mountains". The report quoted the Ministry of Home Affairs’ (MHA’s) disaster management experts as saying that quakes with a higher intensity than the one which struck Manipur on Monday are likely to hit the Himalayan region in future. A series of recent earthquakes – Manipur (January 2016), Nepal (May 2015) and Sikkim (2011) – which measured 6.7-7.3 on the Richter scale have re-ruptured tectonic plates that had developed cracks due to previous incidents, says the newspaper report. A Kashmiri Boy Stabbed to Death in Punjab

TKS Web Desk SRINAGAR: In a barbaric act, a Kashmiri kid was slaughter to death in Pagwara area of Punjab on Thursday. A Kashmiri shawl seller, Javeed Ahmad Lone, camping in a locality called Bhagatpur in Pagwara was accompanying his son, Irshad Lone, with him. Expressing his tale of grief Aijaz Ahmad said “On Thursday morning, they left the room to sell their shawls and left the boy at the room”. “On returning back after a day long work they found the boy dead and his throat and belly slit body in the room”. He further added that the murderers had taken everything including a cash of around Rs 60,000 and some expensive shawls.” Javeed Lone, the grieving father said that he is feeling helpless as no one is helping them. “Police are yet to register an FIR in the case,” he said. Meanwhile, Irshad’s body was sent for a post mortem.
