Magnificent Parade at Kartavya Path Showcases Democratic Values, Cultural Diversity and Security Preparedness
New Delhi, January 26, 2026: India celebrated its 77th Republic Day with immense enthusiasm and national pride, as the iconic Republic Day Parade at Kartavya Path unfolded in the presence of distinguished guests and citizens from across the country.
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi said the celebrations reflected the strength of India’s democracy, the richness of its cultural heritage, and the unity that binds the nation together. Sharing glimpses from the event, the Prime Minister described the parade as a powerful expression of India’s collective spirit and constitutional values.
“The magnificent parade at Kartavya Path showcased the strength of our democracy, the richness of our heritage and the unity that binds our nation together,” the Prime Minister said in a series of posts on social media platform X.
The Prime Minister noted that Kartavya Path witnessed a vibrant display of national pride, with spectacular tableaux, cultural performances, and marching contingents that highlighted India’s diversity and shared identity. The parade celebrated the country’s cultural mosaic, portraying traditions from across regions through colourful and energetic presentations.
Highlighting the international significance of the occasion, Shri Modi said India was privileged to host President of the European Council Mr António Costa and President of the European Commission Ms Ursula von der Leyen as chief guests during the celebrations. He said their presence underscored the growing strength of the India–European Union partnership and reflected a shared commitment to democratic values.
The Prime Minister expressed confidence that the visit would further deepen cooperation between India and Europe across a wide range of sectors.
Shri Modi also lauded the impressive display of India’s security forces during the parade, stating that it showcased the nation’s preparedness, technological capability, and unwavering commitment to safeguarding its citizens. He said India’s security forces remain a source of immense pride for the nation, reflecting resilience, discipline, and dedication.
