Over 61,000 youth receive government job offers as Rozgar Mela emerges as a key employment institution
NEW DELHI, JANUARY 24:Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today addressed the 18th Rozgar Mela via video conferencing, describing the distribution of appointment letters as an important step towards nation building and a developed India. The Prime Minister said that the beginning of 2026 has brought new hope and happiness to thousands of families while also reminding citizens of their constitutional duties during the Republic Day period.
Highlighting the significance of the occasion, Shri Modi recalled that the country is observing Parakram Diwas, National Voters’ Day and Republic Day in close succession. He noted that on this historic day, when ‘Jana Gana Mana’ was adopted as the National Anthem and ‘Vande Mataram’ as the National Song, more than 61,000 youth are beginning a new chapter of public service by receiving appointment letters.
The Prime Minister said the Rozgar Mela, launched to conduct government recruitments in mission mode, has evolved into a national institution. Through this initiative, lakhs of young people have secured employment in various government departments. The 18th Rozgar Mela was organised at 45 locations across the country, further strengthening the government’s commitment to employment generation.
Emphasising India’s demographic advantage, Shri Modi said the government is continuously creating new opportunities for youth through infrastructure development, startup growth, Digital India and global mobility agreements. He noted that India’s startup ecosystem now includes nearly two lakh startups, employing over twenty-one lakh youth, while major investments in manufacturing, electronics, automobiles and defence are generating large-scale employment.
The Prime Minister also highlighted rising women participation in the workforce, noting that over 8,000 women received appointment letters at the event. He urged the newly appointed employees to work with honesty, sensitivity and the spirit of “Nagrik Devo Bhava”, and to ensure ease of living for citizens.
Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
