The Kashmir Standard is expanding its newsroom and invites applications from aspiring and passionate journalists across Kashmir to cover local events, community issues, governance, culture, sports, environment, and human-interest stories.

Who Can Apply?
We welcome applications from freshers as well as early-career journalists who have a strong interest in reporting and storytelling. Prior newsroom experience is not mandatory—what matters most is curiosity, commitment, and the ability to tell stories that matter.

Skills We’re Looking For
Applicants should have basic knowledge or interest in the following areas:
News Reporting & Storytelling
Ability to identify newsworthy issues
Writing clear, factual, and engaging news stories
Understanding of local issues and public interest journalism
Video Content Creation
Shooting short videos on mobile or camera
Basic video editing for social media and digital platforms
Writing Skills
News reports, features, explainers, and ground stories
Ability to write in a clear, journalistic style
Social Media Awareness
Understanding how news is shared on platforms like Instagram, Facebook, X (Twitter), and YouTube
Ability to present stories in digital-friendly formats
Freshers with strong interest and willingness to learn will be given guidance and editorial support.
Role & Responsibilities
Cover local events, protests, administration, social issues, sports, and culture
File timely and accurate news reports from your area
Produce short videos, photo stories, or reels when required
Coordinate with the editorial desk for story development
Uphold ethical journalism and factual reporting
