J&K Police in Shopian Observe National Voters’ Day Across the District

Pledge ceremonies held at District Police Lines, police stations, and posts to reaffirm commitment to democratic values and inclusive participation

Shopian, January 25:On the eve of National Voters’ Day, observed annually on January 25, the Jammu and Kashmir Police in Shopian marked the occasion with pledge ceremonies held across the district, reaffirming their commitment to democracy and the electoral process.

The main event took place at the District Police Lines (DPL) Shopian, where a pledge was administered to officers and officials of the District Police Office (DPO) and DPL Shopian. The ceremony was organised as part of the nationwide observance aimed at strengthening democratic values and encouraging responsible participation in elections.

The theme of National Voters’ Day 2026, “My India, My Vote,” underlines the importance of informed, fearless, and ethical voting. During the pledge, police personnel vowed to exercise their right to vote judiciously, without any influence of religion, caste, creed, or fear, and to uphold the principles of fairness, inclusiveness, and equality in the democratic process. The oath also emphasized ensuring maximum participation, accessibility, and awareness among citizens regarding their voting rights.

The event concluded with a collective reaffirmation of faith in the Constitution of India, democracy, and democratic institutions, highlighting the role of disciplined services in safeguarding electoral integrity.

Similar pledge ceremonies were organised at all police stations and police posts across Shopian district, where concerned Station House Officers (SHOs) and In-Charges of Police Posts (IC PPs) administered the oath to their respective staff. These district-wide activities reflected a unified commitment by the police force to support free, fair, and transparent elections.

By observing National Voters’ Day in a structured and meaningful manner, J&K Police Shopian reiterated its dedication not only to maintaining law and order during elections but also to promoting democratic awareness and responsible citizenship among its ranks and the wider community.
