Shopian, August 28: An encounter broke out between militants and security forces in South Kashmir's Shopian district on Friday.
An official told Kashmir Standard that gunfight rages in Killora area of Shopain.
He said earlier a joint team of forces conducted searches in the area following inputs about the presence of some militants.
The officer said as search party encircled the target house hiding militants fired upon them, thus triggering a gunfight.
A police officer told Kashmir Standard that firing from both sides is on.
